*Update- Schedule your Bod Pod appointments or consultation appointments with Scott on the weekends. If requesting an appointment via our online schedule, please request Scott in the comments section. Scott used the Bod Pod to insure he was not losing any lean mass as he dieted and trained for the 2001 Ohio State Bodybuilding Championships. He weighed in at 223 with 212 lbs of lean mass, winning the overall 'Mr. Ohio' title. Click on the pictures or article below to see more. Four weeks after the Ohio, Scott did some Powerlifting at the CompuServe Powerlifting Championships. He placed 1st in the dead lift with a 700 lb. lift and third in bench press with a 450 lb bench. Scott did both of these lifts without the aid of a lifting shirt or suit. Check out the dead lift clip here.
VO2 training, along with hard work in the gym and on the turf, brought Scott to his first 'Strongman' competition held April 26th in Virginia Beach. Although Scott only competes in the open Men's class (all ages). In this, his first competition, Scott set two National Records for Men's Masters (over 40). Check out the pictures below of Scott doing Fire Truck Pulling (37,000 lbs.) 'Log' Lifting (230, 240, 250 lbs.), Arm over Arm Pull (600 lbs), deadlifting (500 lbs for 16 reps in 60 seconds) and one of some of the 'Strongmen' after the event. We're happy to report that Scott qualified for Nationals at his second competition, the 'Beast of the East' Strongman Challenge held May 17th in Myrtle Beach, SC. Check out the pictures below of the Viking Press (285 lbs pressed overhead for reps), the Hercules Hold (two 900 lb pillars held for time) and the Power Stairs (416 lb weights brought up 15 steps, 16" high) Scott's training partner, Richard Freitag, also competed in the Challenge. Click on his name for some of his pictures. These two are well on their way to the the National ranks of Strongman. Dinopalooza Strongman - Held here in Columbus at Grandview High School. Scott, Rick Freitag and new teammate Shawn Slemmons competed in this challenge. There were six events in this grueling competition. Unfortunately, Scott had to forfeit during the 5th event after a complete tear of his bicep tendon. Incredibly, Scott still finished 1st in the 250 lb weight class, again qualifying for Nationals. Although he won't be able to compete, he'll be cheering on Shawn and Rick who qualified for Nationals by winning 1st and 2nd place in their respective weight classes. Check out more pictures of the day at sponsor site, Vince's Muscle Shop. The Strongman Nationals were held October 3rd and 4th in Myrtle Beach, SC. Scott, recovering from his bicep tear, attended to support his teammates. Rick and Shawn both had fantastic finishes. Rick finished 5th in the 275lb class and Shawn finished 4th in the 200lb class! Very impressive first time National showing for both. Here are a couple pictures of Scott with his teammates from Nationals 2003. In November 2003, while squatting at the gym, Scott's humerus fractured. It fractured right along the repair site of his bicep tendon. After a surgical repair of the humerus, he awoke with radial nerve palsy (no feeling or movement of the back of the arm, wrist and hand). It may be some time before Scott is back to competing again, but he's ready to go as soon as his arm cooperates. Thanks to our friends and family for all their support. July 2004 - Scott had exploratory surgery on his radial nerve and within 24 hours had feeling in his thumb. Movement seems to be improving at a much faster rate than the several months before. The hardware was also removed and now the bone needs some time to heal. October 2004 - After getting the OK to ease back into training, Scott has been moving right along. Still has numbness and nerve pain, but the strength is coming back. Through it all Scott has kept up on the cardio and stayed in great shape. Now he's back to putting back on some of the lean mass he lost over the last 14 months.
September 2005 - Scott is having a great time helping various competitors prepare for their competitions. Training is going well for him and he may be doing some powerlifting this fall/winter. Scott also picked up a new toy this month that he's just loving to show off!
November 2005 - We made the trip to Louisville to see Scott's friend / former training partner Rick Frietag compete in the Strongman Nationals. We're happy to report that Rick won his weight class and took home a Pro Card! Here is a pic of Rick and his wife Lauren and one of us at the event. See Rick's page for more details.
January 2006 - Believe it or not, Scott is a Grandpa! His daughter Jaime and her Husband Jason Connor are the parents of Joshua Michael, born on January 8th, 2006 at 10:24 AM. Joshua Michael was 6 lbs 13 oz and 19''. June 2006 Joshua was baptized.
September 2006 - Scott and friends rode their Harley Davidson's through the 'Tail of the Dragon' in Tennesse.
